Radiesse© Hands

Got aging hands?

Over time, our hands lose volume and the overlying skin becomes wrinkled and crepe-y. Bones, tendons, and veins become more visible. The only way to improve this appearance is to replace lost volume. Radiesse is an injectable dermal filler that can do just that and is FDA approved for use on the back of the hands.

How does Radiesse© differ from other fillers?

Radiesse© is a gel composed of microscopic spheres of calcium hydroxylapetite. Calcium hydroxylapetite is a synthetic form of a material that naturally occurs in bone. When Radiesse is injected into the skin, the calcium hydroxylapetite spheres lift and volumize the space, while collagen is stimulated to form around the spheres. Even after the Radiesse is broken down, this skin-smoothing collagen persists.

What to expect during the procedure:

Dr. Colaço is highly skilled in micro-cannula injection technique, for a practically painless, bruise-free treatment. Radiesse is injected under the skin on the back of the hands and then massaged into the areas that need the most volume. You’ll be able to see the results immediately! Expect some swelling for a few days after the procedure. Results can last for a year or more, and the skin-smoothing effects of new collagen even longer than that.

Are There Any Side Effects of Radiesse©?

Radiesse© is formulated with lidocaine to make the injection experience more comfortable. Ice packs, prescription-strength numbing cream, and/or nerve blocks are also available to decrease discomfort. Dermal fillers have an excellent safety record in the hands of experienced, well-trained physicians. Most commonly, temporary mild swelling and bruising can occur. Consider reviewing our treatment tips for precautions to avoid/minimize bruising prior to your treatment.

Got sun-damaged hands?

Undesirable volume loss of hands is often confounded by the presence of photodamage that has accumulated from years of sun exposure. IPL (intense pulsed light) is an effective way to improve the appearance of brown spots from sun and/or age. Resurfx© laser resurfacing can improve the appearance wrinkled or crepe-y appearing skin.
